Sweet
Memories is a collection of classic country songs that I enjoy
listening to. I have especially come to appreciate the vocal talent of
the late Dawn Sears and have covered three songs she sang with the Time
Jumpers including the title song, “Sweet Memories”. I have also
included songs by legendary songwriters such as Kris Kristofferson,
Bill Anderson, Buck Owens, Mickey Newbury and Jeannie Seely, to name a
few. My musical heritage is rooted strongly in Gospel. I have
selected a beautiful tune , “I’d Rather Have Jesus”, a song which is a
favourite of mine, and was often performed by my late Father, Roy
Norton (1937 - 1990). I would like to dedicate this CD to my sisters, Laura and Lisa... always sisters, forever friends! And to all the country fans I have met over the years who have requested I record a country CD... Sweet Memories is for you! I appreciate your kindness and encouragement. I trust you will enjoy my renditions of some great country classics. Linda Evans |
I would like to thank each of the musicians who played such an intregal role in this recording: To my son Robin... your musical ability surpasses all I could hope for! Thank you for writing and arranging all the tracks, and for playing the most beautiful Fiddle, including 3 part harmony on “Sweet Memories” and “Leaving and Saying Goodbye”. Those years at University have really paid off! Thank you for all your hard work... I am really proud of you and I love you! Steve Piticco... you are nothing short of amazing! It had been a wish of mine to have you play guitar on my recording... thank you for making this dream come true! I appreciate your friendship and talent and for making this session so special! To Frank Woodcock... you played drums on my first cassette recording in 1984 and have been on all myrecordings since then. You have been a part of so many sessions at Ambassador Records over the years and Paul and I thank you! Your beautiful harmonies have added so much to this recording... thanks for the memories! Last, but not least, to my husband Paul... thank you for the countless hours spent in the Studio, recording, mixing and mastering! You are a genius! When I first met you in 1983, I had never seen a Steel Guitar but I have come to love your skill and heart when you play. Your legacy will live on in your music. You have played on so many recordings over the years and it is a thrill for me to hear you play on mine... I love you! |

Robin
is such a talented young man and is entering his 4th year at
Carleton University majoring in Bachelor of Music and Celtic Fiddle
Studies. Robin's goal is to become a music teacher after obtaining his degree. Robin wrote all the arrangements for this CD and played three part fiddle on the session. Linda and I are so proud of Robin! His love of music is a constant inspiration to me and I always love having him by my side at a gig. |
