About Us...
Al Martin has been involved in country music for many years, during which time he was on the road promoting and managing the Smiley Bates Show.
After some time off, and then buying a property large enough for a jamboree, he got to work organizing the first show in 2011.
Al would like everyone to know that his best friend, and partner, Leah Rout has been a great help and he couldn't do it without her. Leah works full time as an Engineering Services, Project Manager for Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. The two boys, Clayton and Garret, did a terrific job helping Al build stages and cleaning up the grounds. They loved the first jam and are looking forward to next year.
About The Jamboree...
The Hitchin' Post Jamboree is devoted to promoting
classic country music.
Our venue promotes a range of talented local and professional
country music singers and musicians.
In August 2011 we held our first Jamboree. It was
well beyond our expectations for the first shows in Grafton and such a
success!
We decided to continue the shows as long as all our
guests had fun and enjoyed the wonderful weekend of classic country music.
We are located in the village of Grafton, in the heart
of Northumberland County. We are minutes away from the
local gas stations, groceries, liquor store, Co-op,
restaurants, and the 401 (Exit 487).
About 150 campers, some local, and some from as far
away as Vancouver and Newfoundland, and 200 locals
came together to enjoy the music...something we are
passionate about.
The Hitchin Post Jamboree
2012 - August 10th, 11th and 12th...
This year marks our second annual jamboree and, since
last year, we have done a lot of work on the venue. We have expanded the
stage, added
another covered seating area and now have a covered
dance floor. Along with upgrading the electrical systems, we made
Gloria Downer Pearson her own old fashioned outhouse.
'Big Al' Traynor is our Emcee again this year, he's
been a friend of Al's for over 25 years. Along with all 'Big Al's' endeavours
he also travelled
on the road with Al Martin and Smiley Bates. 'Big
Al' brings many years of experience to our show and works hard to make
sure the production
goes off without a hitch. We look forward to working
with 'Big Al' again this year.
Main Stage Shows
Thursday August 9th at 6:30 p.m. - Parish Group & Local Talent Show
Friday August 10th, Saturday August 11th and Sunday August 12th.
Friday & Saturday Main Stage from 7p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Sunday Main Stage show from 1p.m. to 5 p.m.

Come out and sing a few tunes during the "Open Mic"
Open mic begins Friday Afternoon @ 1pm until 5:00 p.m.
Saturday from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m
Sunday Morning Gospel show from 11a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Sunday Main Stage show from 1p.m. to 5 p.m.
